Active and critical global citizenship lies at the heart of our school ethos and our school is fully committed to supporting Children’s Rights and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. We often work on campaigns alongside our Ghanaian partner school.

We have recently retained the Rights Respecting Schools Gold Award. This is the highest level of the Award. It is granted by Unicef UK to schools that have fully embedded children’s rights throughout the school in its policies, practice and ethos, as outlined in the four standards. We are now an Ambassador school.

Pupils and teachers at Muthill Primary School value the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Each class has a Class Charter and we have a Playground Charter too. Pupils learn about, through and for Children’s Rights and we participate in UNICEF campaigns such as the Day for Change, Outright campaigns and Soccer Aid.

We were a 6 times Eco-School, as well as a Health-Promoting School.

We have retained our FairAchiever Award since 2016 which is the top level of Fairtrade awards.

We have retained the British Council’s prestigious Full International School Award since 2010 in recognition of our work to bring the world into the classroom.

We are also delighted to have retained the British Council’s prestigious Full International School Award in recognition of our work to bring the world into the classroom.

We are a Cycle Friendly Primary School and we are working with Sustrans Scotland as an ibike school encouraging more cycling along with parent volunteers who deliver bikeability training to our p5 and p7 pupils.

Teaching Staff     2020-2021

Headteacher  – Mrs Bell

Hello and welcome to Muthill Primary School! I’m Mrs Rachel Bell and I’ve been the Headteacher here since I moved from Shetland with my family in August 2016. I am very excited that Muthill Primary is a Gold Level Rights Respecting School and also that the school colour is red – my favourite! Muthill Primary is a small and special place for children to learn and grow at the heart of the Muthill community. Everyone is valued and supported as an individual within our family atmosphere, with encouragement to achieve of their best and to develop their own personal talents and abilities.

Principal Teacher & P5/6/7 - Mrs Reid

I’m Keri Reid and I’ve worked at Muthill Primary School as Principal Teacher since the post was invented, almost twenty years ago! Despite having undertaken many secondments during this time, I keep coming back to Muthill Primary because I love the families and ethos of our wee school. I enjoy teaching and continue to learn too, as I think this is important to do as a teacher.

Acting Principal Teacher & P1/2 – Mrs Hepburn

My name is Mrs Emma Hepburn. I am Acting Principal Teacher job-sharing with Mrs Reid and P1/2 teacher. I first came to Muthill Primary School as a student teacher and stayed for my probationer year. After a brief sojourn to another local school, I returned to Muthill Primary School. The warm and friendly atmosphere and community spirit make Muthill Primary a unique school to be part of. I think learning should be fun and inspiring and in P1/2 aim to be active, independent learners.

Primary 5/6/7 - Mrs Kimber

Hello, my name is Mrs Kimber and I teach P5/6/7 (Mon-Wed) alongside Mrs Reid. This is my second year teaching at Muthill primary school and I am thrilled to be back in the classroom working with our pupils. Muthill is a friendly, welcoming wee school and the strong relationships between pupils, staff, families and the local community mean it is a great place to work and learn.

Primary 3,4 & 5 – Mr Boddy

Hello, I’m Mr Boddy. After several years managing conferences and events, I finally achieved my dream of becoming a teacher. This is my first year at Muthill Primary School and I am teaching P3/4/5. Muthill Primary is a fantastic school where every child is treated as an individual and given the opportunity and support to excel.
